Yep, you can always count on Alex Ross for some photorealistic goodness.

I've alerted my wife that the DVD stork is on its way and clear some space on the shelf for this one.

I can't recall the last time I saw this film where it wasn't horribly mangled into the TBS 20 minute version.

This'll be a good edition. I actually have the old one, which not only wasn't anamorphic, it was also supposedly zoomboxed.

Get rid of the crappy-cute edition nickname, and I'd frame that bad boy. That's even better than the original poster.

I'm glad I never got around to ordering the region 2 disc.

Is that Yiddish for "I jizzed so hard it bounced off the wall and hit me in the head and knocked me out cold"?

And now the bad news: the extras, they suck.

It's such a crime. I can't believe Universal would drop the ball like this.

And during the same week MGM announced another bungled RED DAWN release...

My heads hurts.

I guess I'll have to hold out for the "Merciless" edition for some Hodges/Jones/Anderson/Murti Commentary and a feature on the music by Brian May, cast interviews with Blessed, Dalton, Topol, etc.

Sheeyit. Not that I'm unhappy at finally getting a good looking full cut of the film, but this is one of those bizzaro movies that I actually would be interested in the in's and out's of. That's a shame. I love Alex Ross, but let's face it, his involvement with the film doesn't extend beyond the cover art.

That is a lame-ass set of extras. Are Sam J. Jones and Melody Anderson so busy these days that they can't sit for an interview? Fuck, Anderson dines out on that flick at conventions to this day.

Alex Ross kicks ass and all, but why don't they just include a featurette on the guy who wrote the back-cover text? It'd be just as relevant. Of course, Ross' participation in the upcoming Flash Gordon TV series and action figures must also play a part.

I'm just happy Stephen Sommers isn't involved.

Yeah, lame-ass extras. Especially considering the R2 dvd has some great stuff they could maybe cherry-pick from.

Damn.
