He was 79, and always one of Hollywood's most reliable actors. I remember him from "I Spy," as well as some really bad flicks that he was better than:

It took me far too long to know him as more than just "that guy from Greatest American Hero." Once I found I Spy, I was hooked.

Aw, nuts. I loved that guy.

A few years ago, I saw a film he was in at the Boston Film Festival, called "The Almost Guys". He was really the only recognizable face in it, and during the Q&A, the writer/director/star said that you wouldn't believe what kind of talent that even a no-budget independent would get calls from when you put a good role for an older actor in it.

It looks like he was working until the end and might have continued into his eighties if not for a freak accident. He'll be missed.
