I know this is a movie forum, but as news and entertainment have blurred in recent years, much to the detriment of the news and our nation, I thought maybe it would be appropriate to post the information here (if not I'm sure you'll tell me to go ef myself Smile).

"Mr. Cronkite anchored the CBS Evening News from 1962 to 1981, at a time when television became the dominant medium of the United States. He figuratively held the hand of the American public during the civil rights movement, the space race, the Vietnam war, and the impeachment of Richard Nixon."

I remember as a kid watching the history of world war II series that he narrated something about old Walter's voice as a backdrop to WW2 was pretty inspiring indeed

He was a great anchor and he gave a new dimension to the news world.
