SPOILERS ABOUND

So, just for a bit of fun, I thought we could all list clues and pointers that all come together at the end of the film about Teddy's state of mind. Rob's interesting observation of "continuity errors - likely ones, at that" got me thinking along that line, too.

For one, the flashback where his platoon execute the concentration camp guards - and they all fall down as the camera passes along them, instead of all at once.

Yep.

I thought the final twist was easy to figure at about the 20-25-minute mark where Di Caprio and Ruffalo were dressed in the same white outfits as the patients. In fact, it was heavy-handedly obvious.

That Titanic guy plays a federal maaaaaaashal who walks around having weird dreams and hallucinations. At the end, we discover the whole movie is just one big delusion he's having. Wow, that's...literally the oldest surprise ending in cinema. It's The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari all over again. Not to mention every other horror movie of the past decade.

For me, the only surprise was that Ruffalo's character didn't turn out to be a figment of DiCaprio's imagination a la The Uninvited. Ruffalo was so underutilized that I was convinced that's what the film was heading for.

I can appreciate the craftsmanship that Scorsese brings to SI, but I wonder if he's too good for this material. The movie kind of coasts along in places where even a third-rate hack would realize you need to hit the accelerator. It doesn't really have that racing-to-the-end drive that you get in the best thrillers. Also: Too much exposition. Too much talking talking talking and then SOMEONE SUDDENLY STARTS YELLING JUST TO GET SOME DRAMA INTO THE SCENE.

Scorsese is not only too good for Shutter Island but the rancid Cape Fear remake, too.

First, I overrated the movie and thought it will be super hit. But at the end it reveals that it is a average movie. Leonardo DiCaprio is my favorite but i think he is not quite mature for playing such role.
