As many of you may have noticed, we've recently made a few tweaks to make things a little better around here.

Benmaster N has just added a 'top 50' link to the top 20 tables, allowing us to see a little further into what's rocking the world of the folks at HBS. Of course, that has allowed us to see all the films that had been artificially voted down the top 20 list by one or two idiots who seem to have nothing else in life by to give Godfather II 85 five-star ratings in a row.

People, if you can't play fair, don't play. We may well agree that Godfather II deserves a higher place in the standings, but the world doesn't stop if that doesn't happen. There's no reason to spend FOUR MONTHS coming here every day, rating that movie five-stars and every other movie around it one-star. That's just stupid and ruins the integrity of the ratings system entirely.

At the IMDB, they take idiots liek this into account and skew their ratings to ignore the most positive and negative ratings when calculating the average score of a film. They also throw in all sorts of wacky bell-curve logarithms to ensure that no random idiot can ruin the parade. We prefer not to counter idiots by removing the opinions of regular users, so instead we'll just keep watching for them, idnetifying them and removing them. It's more fun that way, anyhow.

You know who you are, rr.com boy.

In other news, feature article pictures now have captions, we have a new deal with CinemaNow.com to bring you reviews of smaller films that you can actually legally watch and/or download online at their site, we have more Sundance reviews than any other outlet - period, and our gracious hosts at http://www.epcusa.com have once again helped us out immensely by increasing our bandwidth to keep up with our incredible growth.

The last month was a record for the site, by a long way, and if you regularly read our reviews, do the people who make it possible a favor and explore them next time you want to put up a website of your own. We went through a WHOLE lot of hosting companies in the early days of HBS/EFC and 80% of them were terrible. The rest were merely passable.

But http://www.epcusa.com have been truly without peer. Zero downtime, zero server errors, zero hassle with being extorted for more money, just because we're popular. They, along with Ben and the mondo reviewers, make the stuff you read possible. Props.

The code for the Top 20 and Top 50 pages has been improved and the page load times are significantly faster. Enjoy!

I'd also like to echo Oz's comments about our hosting company. They rock!

And as always, if anyone has any comments/suggestions, either email us or post in the feedback forum.
