...had a terrific 2-hour season finale this week yet new episodes won't air until next summer! Has anyone seen this done before in the world of TV? I sure haven't.

It's not uncommon in other territories, of course, for there to be six episodes made of a show and then maybe nothing for another year or three; the "22 episodes per year with repeats interspersed so that a show runs more or less continuously" model is fairly unique to the U.S.

A lot of cable channels do this, though - order a short first season and run all seasons in repeat-free blocks.

Aside - Piper Perabo needs to eat something. She was much cuter and curvier with a little baby fat on her.

Thanks for the info, Jay. I'm kinda new to the way TV works in this day and age after having boycotted it since 2001 or so because so much crap was on -- the last show I watched with any regularity was "The Education of Max Bickford" starring Richard Dreyfuss and Marcia Gay Harden before it went off the air. These days, I'm a die-hard fan of "Covert Affairs", "In Plain Sight" and "Burn Notice".

I've noticed, especially on cable, that everyone seems to be on their own special season calender. On Syfy, some shows will debut, have a "midseason break," and then debut a new season a few weeks later. It's all very strange!
