Great director will be missed, with output as varied as "Bullitt," "Breaking Away," "The Dresser," and "Krull."

Yeah, one of the things I liked about him is that he was very liberal in his taking on many genres, like fellow Brit Alan Parker. Not all his movies were good, but they were respectable tries. I even have a slight affectation for his much-dumped-upon "Year of the Comet".
