Hey y’all whats up? Hows everyone’s summer going? I have been just relaxing, trying to see as many movies as I can. There is so much that I want to see! I think my favorite movie I saw this summer so far was Spiderman. Kirsten Dunst is great in it, and Tobey Maguire ain’t too bad either . There is still so many movies I need to see coming out this summer. I think that Blue Crush looks like it is going to be awesome. I saw the trailer for it at www.blue-crush.com and now I think I really want to see it. It has Kate Bosworth from the TV show Young Americans in it and Michele Rodriguez from the Fast and the Furious. Check it out and tell me what you think about it! What else has everyone seen or plan on seeing this summer?

PUBLICIST ALERT!

Twisted Evil
Send 'em a bill!

Also, why would I want to see this movie in theaters for fullprice when I already saw it in its entirety in the trailer?

Rolling Eyes Hey, Miss Publicist, I'll go see "Chicks Going Surfing," but only if you PROMISE to give away the ending. Just tell me how it ends and I'll go see it. I'm wired that way. I like to know exactly what I'm in for before I walk in the theater. Suppose I die of a heart attack from all the motor oil they put on my popcorn. I'm fucked!!! I need to know which character dies in the middle and which character gets shot at the end. Tell me all this and I'll go see "Chicks Going Surfing."

Alright...start talking! (Grumble, grumble, grumble...)

Hi, everyone! I'm just a normal, non-publicist person who has a compulsion to tell strangers to see movies I myself haven't even seen yet! And I just wanted to tell you all about a new movie I heard about! I've only seen the trailer for it, but I'm sure it's fantastic, because we all know that trailers never lie!

While you're at it, why don't you send me a note listing your favorite recent movies! Maybe we can get together and make babies!

Blue Crush? Blue Crush?

You wish me to visit your website and download thy trailer to watch your petty little excuse for a movie, for no other reason than a random person in the ether, who receives a paycheck from a movie studio, tells me I should? Should I stop beating my wife, just because society says so? Should I stop running with scissors just because my mother tells me it'll put out an eye? Should I nevermore pet a strange dog without first qualifying the action with my local deparment of health? Should I stop smoking crack because the packet tells me it may harm my baby?

NAY, foul-smelling beast of studio burden, I shall not play your reindeer games. I shall not be poked into action by your flimsy attempt at consumer manipulation. I shall not be led by the phallus into your harpy's lair of putrid wasted celluloid and leery Hollywood pseudo morality. I shall not allow my delicate persona to be dragged, kicking and screaming into the realm of the exploited. I refuse to be 'scooby doo'ed by your chicanery and lies.

I SHALL NOT BE BULLIED BY EVILLE STUDIO EMPLOYEES!

Hurlygirly, take thy invitation to observe thy master's shite and fit it snugly within your sphinctoral regions. May the only trailers in your future be the one you call home.

Oz, who always gives a publicist the sort of welcome they deserve.

After the last time I sent the Hollywood Reporter the details, they're humming and hawing whether to use them, and Erik sent the words to Roger Ebert, who asked if he could use them in an upcoming Answer Man column.

A bill? Send that fucker out.

Even with my phat T-1 connection it wasn't worth even downloading. Watched and erased from my hard drive seconds afterward.

I read the rant about publicists posting like this in here and not granting interviews with their clients at the same time, but I never thought I would be so unfortunate as to see one post here since... Shocked

I guess they have a long list of websites to annoy and no time to actually check if they've been busted before.

It's pretty sad really... the wages of that person are paid by you and me, when we buy a ticket. And even if we don't buy a ticket to four out of five films we see hyped in such a way, that one time we do, the money doesn't go to a writer, or director, or a paroducer who put their mortgage on the line to get it made.. it goes to marketing morons like this.

The world be sad.

From today's IMDb news (8/12):

The founder of the Rotten Tomatoes website has voiced his suspicion that a paid publicist connected with next weekend's surfer movie Blue Crush has been posting messages on various movie-related Internet forums pretending to be an ordinary fan of the movie. (Sample: "Hey there! How is everyone's summer going? I am definitely NOT looking forward to going back to school. ... The only movie left this summer that I still want to see is Blue Crush.") Senh V. Duong claimed in a message to entertainment reporters over the weekend that whoever was behind the bogus postings also collected the email addresses of all the users of the message boards and sent ads for the film to them. "The sad part," said Duong, "is that these sites rely on advertising to stay afloat, and these studio guys are trying to get a FREE ride." Publicists connected with the film could not be reached over the weekend.

--Um, didn't WE complain about this a few weeks ago?

Here is an item from today's entertainment news at www.imdb.com.

At least they are getting the recognition they richly deserve for their devious behavior. It is just like them to assume that movie fans are not intelligent enough to suss them out. They feed us the crappy movies, and they feed us crappy lines to sell them. A plague on their houses.... Mad

Just spoke to Senh over at RT (well, emailed actually) and this is what he told me.

Hi Oz,

I just forwarded your message to an editor from USA Today, who will
most likely do an article on this. Thanks.

The flick's gonna make some serious coin. You heard it here first.

Teen flick + Eddie Murphy Shelf-Flick = Teen flick payday

We KNOW it will suck ass, the problem is that a generation of teenage boys wil pay $8 to see some girls in bikinis act badly, and then the money it makes will be used to make another one... ugh.

Teenage boys! Get WinMX and download porn! Save the movie industry for the thinkers!

BWAHAHAHAHA, no shit. Why PAY for a bikini pricktease when you can get gangbanging and facials for free?

The thing I love about this fake post the most is all these wierd symbols and numbers that show up in it. "Hey y’all whats up? Hows everyone’s summer going?" Was this fucking post even made by a human being (if you can call a studio publicist that), or by some buggy piece of code they are using to spam-post forums?
