"JUST LET ME HEAR SOME OF THAT ROCK N ROLL MUSIC!!"
Mister Reader, can you tell me what I like about this movie?First of all, it's the Beatles, you can't go wrong there, and this film takes on us the wild ride that the 5 (yes, 5) lads took before the world picked up on them. The gritty underbelly of the German Reeperbahn, the abusive club owners, the drugs, the people, and how they meet Astrid Kirchherr and Klaus Voorman (Klaus Voorman did the art work for Revolver and the Anthology series).
Seeing a new side of the band that was never explored, a bottom feeding, cynical, sarcastic, bitter bunch of teenagers determined to scratch and claw there way to the toppermost of the poppermost. You can still see the wit of the 4 boys you saw in such films as A Hard Days Night and Help! But at this point in their lives, they have nothing, and well, it makes for a hell of a better movie.
With an outstanding performances by all, not to mention the BackBeat Band, this film is a "must see" for any Beatles fan.
(On a side note, there is a lot of sex and nudity in this film, so if you've got a little one who likes Yellow Submarine, show them A Hard Days Night first, it comes back to the theatres early next year)"No, J, what do you like about this movie?"
I was hoping you could tell me.
