A GOD DAMNED CERTIFIABLE PIONEERING CLASSIC!This film started the slasher genre, in my eyes.
John Carpenter made this film really work, all moments were tense, the script was good, the direction is superb, and the concept was so simple. And the music was so effective.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence both pull off great performances and they alone would have made the movie fun.
Granted it does look dated now, as every horror has copied it to hell, and it WAS filmed in '78.
But this is a great great horror film that should stand out as one of the most important horror films ever made.
Oh and it is about a serial killer escaping from an institution to kill his sister.. OK?It rocks....
