Best of MacDaddy's 5th Year Anniversary

"MacDaddy's the Man!"
4 stars

Despite some occasional flaws, this is that rare adult-oriented video that's worth the price of a rental.

Best of MacDaddy's 5th Year Anniversary gets off to such a bravura start that there's really no way it can sustain the euphoric high its beginning so undeniably gives off. Luckily, despite some occasional lapses and dead spots, it's more than recommendable as an hour-long piece of satisfying soft-porn bliss. Of course, it could have been something of a masterpiece had all of the women showcased here been as sinfully and sultrily voluptuous as the first one, who does a truly show-stopping striptease number. Blonde, D-cupped, and adorned with some truly breathtaking tan lines, with her blonde Netherlands region validating innateness as a blonde, she does a sexy striptease up against a fireplace; even when she's down to full-frontal mode, she leaves her stockings and knee-high soft-leather boots on, which, like the tan lines, accentuate her magnificent nakedness. Some staccato editing is employed as she slinks down onto the carpet, which, rather than distracting, places some pleasing style into the proceedings; and, smartly, rather than going overboard with the editing, the director eases off when she goes aerobic on us, arching her back over and wriggling so her breasts jiggle to where your eyes almost collide with each other while greedily trying to train focus on every movement. Here is a beautiful woman with the kind of I'd-sell-out-my-morals-to-have-her body that reminds one why going through puberty was necessary, yet she doesn't so grandly succeed here off just her body and looks -- there's a swank precision to her movements that aren't overly studied yet deliver all the effects intended, with a true performer's grace and eagerness in performing for an audience. And it's a testament to her titillative talent that she manages to leave us gulping for air even when her segment fades out without nudity -- when her face moves up to the camera in a slo-mo close-up, the joie de vivre she exudes manages to envelop us like the sweetest choke hold in the world.

There are eight more ready-for-action ladies to go. The second one gets off to a very promising start: when the camera first rests upon her, she looks directly into it and gives it a funny cross-eyed look. Some spirited naughtiness, we think, is in store; but, alas, the remainder is disappointing. She alternates between a bed and a stage with a stripper's pole, yet her movements lack the creativity and agility of her predecessor; and though the zingy electronic score is a cut or two above the usual obnoxious-sounding music to be gratingly heard in most videos of this type, the woman, whose body is really nice (especially her firm, natural breasts), reveals herself as quite the killjoy in keeping the shots of her lower regions (yes, even her bottom!) strategically hidden -- she favors posing at a side angle, going so far as keeping her legs closed and moving sideways so as to obstruct our view. (Whaaaatever!) Number Three is semi-redeeming, though: with neck-long dirty-blonde hair and lying on a bed bathed in red-gel lighting, she's playful in her facial close-ups (revealing a resemblance to a younger Jennifer Aniston), and the camera moves onto some nice medium-close-ups of her as she lies straight on her side so her full-frontalness is displayed in all its unobstructed glory. The fourth one, tall and black-haired, ends up a casualty of ambitious but misplaced aesthetic aspirations. The first shot of her is in a forest with gaudy blue-gel background lighting, and then the striptease action alternates between her standing outside a mansion on a lawn in a white gown and lying on a stone seat on the other side of the property with a blue-and-red-lit background. The visuals are rather imaginative, yes, but there's way too much use of slo-mo and freeze shots, and the camera is placed too far back, which is a real shame because the woman on display is a real looker. This awry attempt at erotic-Gothic quickly collapses into austerity.

Another very pretty dirty-blonde turns up, this time on a strip stage, and the result is very pleasing. While her 36c breasts are very fake, the frequent shots of her very tight buns (by far the best of her comrades') more than alleviate this. Next, a brunette in a crimson-red nightie and a black-haired beauty in a purple one begin under the sheets of a bed and progress their way to undress and fondling, and while it's acceptable it's not nearly as explicit as one would like. Then there's a stunning blonde in a fountain who starts out totally nude and is introduced with music that sounds oddly like Wendy Carlos' opening A Clockwork Orange score but soon gives way to lyrics like "Wanna have sex?", and you can't help but repeatedly nod your head in whiplash-like fury. An even more stunning blonde with a perfect all-around tan and body betters her with an extended series of moan-inducing slithers over a couch from the seat cushions to the top of the back support; her assuredness and grace rivals and even betters that of the tan-line wonder at the beginning. A black-haired woman with a pierced lower region can't quite follow up as successfully, but she's eager and far from shy and exudes libidinousness. But a pretty-enough red-haired woman on upper-body weight machines is (for lack of better wording) a bust: it's nondescript and doesn't take ample advantage of lower-body machines, which would have given way to much-more-enticing leg movements. As for the last woman, well, she has black hair and is perhaps of Spanish origin -- which I can't one-hundred percent aver because all the damn gel lighting and wind-blown curtains all but obscure her. A real bummer of a finale, this. But what the hell, most of Best of MacDaddy's 5th Year Anniversary is good, and in certain areas (not to mention certain bodily regions) it's very, very good. You'll never look at a tan line, an aerobic motion, or a couch quite the same way again, I swear.

Propels one to seek out more entries in the MacDaddy series, to be sure.
