"Tom Cruise + John Woo + Martial Arts = One Kick Ass Movie"
Tom Cruise in long hair, how else could those slow motion action shots been more effective. The boy has the hair flip down - no question. I felt it was a good movie, it kept my attention and through parts I was indeed on the edge of my seat. Of course it has the obvious cheesy movie moments. But all in all I give it a thumbs up. Definetely worth seeing on the big screen, I don't think it would be quite as good on a little screen and no surround sound.Tom Cruise did an excellent job as producer. Of course I didn't remember much of MI1 so it was a good thing that they did not tie them together.
Thandie Newton did a good job of being the boobs in the movie. Quite a different role from the one she did in 'Beloved'. She was waaay freaky in that role, so it was nice to see her do something normal. The beginning I found a little unbelievable tom and thandie jumping into bed within like minutes of meeting each other. HELLOOOOOO!!!! I understand he's hot and all...but really!!!
Dougray Scott as the bad guy, also another opposite role for him, he was last seen in 'EverAfter' as the prince charming role. I have only one hope, his teeth were really bad in this movie, I am hoping that they were fake...otherwise..YUCK!!
Ving Rhames, his character was I think the only crossover from MI1. He played basically the same character as in the first one, the associate crime fighter. Same 'ol...same 'ol..He was also a bit of the comic relief.
Anthony Hopkins - If his character hadn't been so hateful toward women I think I would of liked his character a lot more. Although the role reminded me of his character in 'Zorro'. The mentor role, encouraging the hero that he can indeed do it, that he must fight the evil for the good of mankind. Yadda...yadda..yadda...
The movie as I said overall held my interest..the special effects were phenomenal..especially the car chase, flamenco dancing, fight scenes, and motorcycle sequences. I think what makes it all the more amazing was the fact that Tom Cruise did the majority of his own stunts. That is truly awesome, and proof that the man still has what it takes. While in parts yes it was predictable, it also had me on the edge of my seat. There are some big surprises that make you ooh and ahh. Plot twists galore - much of it involves identity switching..so you are never really sure who is who...is it a mask or isn't it?Definetely worth seeing on the big screen. It has action, romance, a story that actually makes sense and Tom Cruise. What more could you want from a movie?? Besides more gratuitious shots of Tom in his underwear??? Nothing..so go and check it out..
