"Sucks, sucks, sucks. The worst movie I've seen in years."
George Lucas was once quoted as saying, "...a special effect without a story is a very boring thing." If only his good buddy had listened to him, that corporate-minded push-over Steven Speilberg, who is capable of such masterful art yet occasionally displays extremely poor judgment and directs drivel like this. Movies like this make me sad.I won't even bother to go into a brief review of the plot here as I would normally, since I really don't want to relive the experience any more than I have to. As a matter of fact, I have chosen not to think about this movie for this very reason over the last couple of years, but knew that I had to briefly conjure up the painful memory that is Lost World when I saw that some of you fellow Bitchslappers were actually giving this trash GOOD REVIEWS! STOP IT! You ought to be ashamed.
The mere fact that this film employed nice effects does not erase the damage done by its script, acting and direction. Given the list of talent that was involved in the production of this movie, there is no damn reason at all why it should have turned out so poorly. Yet its plot had more holes than a wino's underpants, the dialogue was less interesting than that from a Canadian '80's soap opera, and the acting was laughably poor. This movie stunk so badly that people were actually leaving the theater where I saw it in San Diego, the first time I had ever actually witnessed this.
This movie was so fueled by corporate greed that it must have been blindly forced through on a tight schedule while public interest was still piqued by its predecessor, thereby abandoning all care for production value. That is what I imagine is the cause for its dismal outcome, anyway. I can't fathom how else some of these folks ever got talked into this (et tu, Vince Vaughn?) despite their better judgment. It's just another example of the crap that so often results from the seductive pull of profit.Essentially, the success of this movie was exactly what this site has been designed to prevent. By all means ignore this one, please.
