"Cheech & Chong's big-screen debut."

Cheech is Pedro, a rock singer whose band needs a drummer. He picks up Chong, who has drums.

They spend most of the last half of the film looking for grass, not knowing they're driving a van made out of it. Lou Adler's direction is pretty poor (he had produced C&C's albums and went on to direct the unreleased Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains), but C&C had their act down pat by '78 and turned out to be a natural movie-comedy team. Lots of juvenile humor about shit, genitals, and dope (sometimes all three at once). It got a fairly positive review from none other than Pauline Kael, who was always up for praising anything the snobs hated.

With Stacy Keach, Tom Skerritt, and lots of really bad punk bands.
