"School for the stand-up."
3 stars

A self-made millionaire joins his son to attend a university and perhaps get something out of the education system, though certain not to neglect collegiate rites-of-passage such as partying and falling for a girl (or in this case, a woman, as well as being his literature professor).

The underscored message of youth’s quest for identification and breaking out from parental influence and assistance is predictably tabled at most times so as to provide Rodney Dangerfield with his soapbox in which to deliver his brand of stand up (and sit down) comedy. Ba-da-bing, punch line, ba-da-boom. And for all that, it still remains moderately funny and swift-paced until the real issues at hand are faced with negligence, and are forcefully and blandly dealt with an attitude of finally picking up a book at 3 AM after staying out to drink all night, as well as with the mechanical structure of generic-y. With Keith Gordon.

[See it if you must.]
