Before Batman, there was George Cluny in ER, the most hilarious show on TV. Before Batman, there was Val Kilmer in Top Secret!, the King of Spoofs. And before Batman, there was Michael Keaton in Johnny Dangerously. You gotta have comedy on the resume before you get the big money, dad. What else can I say. My favorite genre is spoof, and this one is a doozy. Joe Piscopo plays the best gangster in all of cinema, and Michael Keaton farts a tour de force all over Joe's pinstripes. It's NON STOP LAUGHS ladies and gentlemen. It's about time someone made fun of the mob, EH! Bout time, I tell ya!
There are so many good one-liners it's hard to know where to begin. It's like Austin Powers, only thirty years ealier. The cars in JD are way better and the gun and dick jokes are ludicrous and staccato.
Not that I'm dis'n' tha' Powah, but the Spy Who Shagged me wasn't as funny as this movie. And, in my humble opinion, Top Secret! is just plain peerless among spoofs. Still, if you think movies like Airplane are the shiznit, Johnny Dangerously is a must-see.Bring beer, have a blast.
