"Johnny could never pass as a mafioso. He's not hairy enough."
Johnny! Yay! And he's doing that acting thing again!Johnny Depp does an above average job in this based-on-a-true story of Joe Pistone, undercover cop extraordinaire. He inflitrats the NY mafia under the psedonym Donnie Brasco. He does a damned fine job. He gains the trust of Al Pacino, who gets him close to the mob boss. Though the job eventually causes his wife to leave him, he gets the job done.
This is a great flick. It's a great mafia movie, it's great as a cop movie, and it raises the right questions about who is responsible for the crimes that are commited. We grow attached to Al Pacino's character, who is really a bad guy...but he's not the baddest bad guy, so we forgive him.I highly reccomend this for fans of the cop story or mafia genre. Depp really pulls this off.
