"Cheap and derivative horror...that actually tries a little."
It's understandable for movie-renters to generally avoid shot-on-video amateur indie flicks, but while "Savage Harvest" surely isn't a brilliantly made horror film, it does manage to squeeze in a little more fun than do most of its budgetary-deficient brethren.A groups of obnoxious teens (inevitably played by atrocious actors) wander into the woods, learn of a scary legend involving a murderous Native American spirit, and then get knocked off, possessed, chased, tortured and essentially abused a whole heck of a lot. (Gee, anyone think The Evil Dead was an influential horror movie?)
Cheap and chintzy to be sure, but devoted horror loons should find a few gooey moments worth savoring, and any video-lensed horror movie that actually offer some 'action' amidst the non-stop yammer is worthy of a little praise.Ignore the acting and the effects and the well-polished veneer of most movies ever made; it's clear that some effort was made here - even if the end result wasn't all that successful.
