Bait
[AllPosters.com] Buy posters from this movie
by Greg Muskewitz

"Foxx is the fish on the hook."
3 stars

Bait is a high energy, low concept action/thriller that allows Jamie Foxx an abundant amount of opportunities to flex his adlib and impromptu skills.

Aside from the fact that everything in question is through-and-through unrealistic, exaggerated and over-the-top, Foxx exudes so much energy that it is often distracting enough to prevent any groans until after the movie is through. Ostensibly, director Antoine Fuqua (far more preoccupied with New York City skyline than with any storytelling contributions) isn’t concerned with continuity or gaffes — such as the number of rounds a gun can fire, the type of possessions which are allowed in a jail cell, or how a criminal would be able to identify the exact police officer’s car that he has never seen, when all government vehicles have the same symbol on their license plates — but he does show his style is merely a show of pyrotechnics and unmistakable prodigality.

With David Morse, Robert Pastorelli, David Paymer and Jamie Kennedy.

[Redeemable.]
