Black Sheep (1996)
[AllPosters.com] Buy posters from this movie
by Ryan Arthur

"A few funny bits, but it's basically a comedy without comedy."
1 stars

Hey, it's Tommy Boy 2! Only not as funny!

The second pairing of the late Chris Farley and David Spade was scattershot at best.

Barely directed by Wayne's World's Penelope Spheeris, Farley is the blockhead brother of Tim Matheson, who's running for Governor. Matheson's advisor wants to keep Farley out of the limelight, so as not to embarrass his brother. Enter Spade to keep tabs on him. Farley's framed for arson and goes into hiding, only coming out when he discovers that his brother's opponent has rigged the election. All ends well.

Farley does his big-guy-gets-hyper-and-breaks-stuff schtick again. It's a poor imitation of Tommy Callahan from Tommy Boy (not Fellini by any means, but certainly a funnier movie than this is). Spade is the droll straightman as usual.

Skip it.
