"It's OK to love your pets, just don't...LOVE...your pets."
Mostly harmless.Insecure radio host has listener fall for her. Convinces him that she looks like Uma Thurman rather than Janeane Garofalo. He falls for the pretty girl, who falls for him. Janeane gets jealous. Frienship with pretty girl gets tested.
The Turth About Cats And Dogs is a cute movie, and I mean that as a compliment. Garofalo is quite charming as Abby, the radio host with a show about pets. Ben Chaplin plays the guy with dog problems who calls Abby looking for help. He falls for her on the basis of her voice and wants to meet her. She freaks and introduces her friend Noelle (Thurman) as Abby, thinking Chaplin wants the pretty package rather than what's inside. She ends up wanting him just that much more. Added into the mix is the fact that Noelle falls for him, too.
It's a charming little movie, looking at how important looks really are to people who are insecure about their appearance. Garofalo is, as I said, quite charming, and I personally find her more attractive than Thurman anyway. Thurman herself gives a fine performance as Noelle, who may be drop dead gorgeous, but isn't as intelligent (or sophisticated) as Abby. Chaplin's effective in his indecision. He's in love with the body of Uma, but the mind, voice and soul of Janeane.
Comic, touching. Not a great film, but you could do worse on a Saturday night.A nice date movie, if that's what you're looking for.
