Interminable indie flick concerning two American brothers, one a geeky flibbertigibbet, the other a “brutha,” together who inherit a dilapidated château in France, as well as the cranky staff who go to great lengths (and grand theatrics) to prevent their abode from being sold. Those shallow enough to believe the French and Americans don’t get along as portrayed herein, are likely to be caricatures of the characters themselves. Dismissively shot on super-grainy, super-shitty DV with cause and effect and dialogue as the rice-paper foundation upon which the American production was made, one of the parting comments from an ex-prospective U.S. buyer, “Fuck you and fuck this whole fucking country,” could just as well be echoed back by the French for dumping this load of merde on them. With Paul Rudd, Romany Malco, Sylvie Testud, Didier Flamand, Philippe Nahon, Maria Verdi, and Donal Logue; directed by Jesse Peretz.[Not to be bothered with.]
