Severely Rape
[AllPosters.com] Buy posters from this movie
by Scott Weinberg

"Calm down people; the title's the only controversial aspect of this one."
2 stars

Never before has the term "Lost in the translation" been so annoyingly accurate. Yes, the DVD cover clearly says "Severely Rape". The DVD case and opening titles label this one as Severely Rape and thats odd for a few reasons: First, it makes no sense. Second, theres no rape in the film, nor does any of the belabored drama come close to being severe. This flick looks like a comedy (but with no laughs), sounds like a drama (a dull one), and offers very little titillation for a film with so sundry a title.

The plot, as near as I could follow through the rather bizarre English subtitles, has a nebbishy middle-aged virgin looking for sex. His younger (and more lady-friendly) buddy finds him a worthy gal with whom to have intercourse. Sounds wonderful.

Since this stuff happens over the films first forty minutes, we need a bit more, I suppose. To this end, were offered two money-hungry tramps who aim to extort the two horny bastards for every nickel theyre worth. Or something.

There are a few moments of mild softcore sex stuff, though theres no way these bits are worth all that surrounds them. Perhaps its my ignorance with Asian culture that prohibits me from enjoying Japanese fluff like this but I doubt it.

This flick looks like the Asian version of Hardbodies.
