adam sandler knows what makes money. and i wish him all the success in the world, but for my own person tastes, i prefer the edgier sandler. in this, he starts out rough and harsh and ends up very very mushy.i will see this movie again. rental, definately worth it. because, on tape, i can watch the first half and then fastforward through all the mushy bits in the second half.
the premise is, adam sandler gets a kid. he does this because the kid gets dropped off for his (incredibly attractive and yummy) roomate jon stewart who is away, and adam really wants to impress his girlfriend anyways. so that whole part is funny. he's raising the kid and much wackiness ensues. then when social services want to take the kid back, and adam falls in love with joey lauren adams (why can she not get a good haircut?) it gets all kinds of mushy, and kind of bores me.
the costars do an awesome job. steve buscemi has found the role his dna was made to play: a hobo. gay people rule, and i think the third wheel straight guy friend made me laugh every time he was on screen. and mmmm jon stewart. i liked the bitchy hooters sister too. she was cool.
the little kid does a very, very good job. he looks likes he's just having so much fun, that you end up having fun too. goofy and laid back, predictabel at times, the kid humor is the edgier three men and a baby, and i enjoyed it very much.the only downfall is the amount of cheese in the ending. i understand that mush is in sandler's formula now, but i much prefered the waterboy's happy ending yet funny ending to the only mushy and not enough funny of this one. 3 sporks.
