Species 2
[AllPosters.com] Buy posters from this movie

"Please God, let there be no Species 3."
1 stars

Complete, utter, and total shite.

Completely useless.

Terrible acting (I'm talking to you, Justin Lazard) and crappy effects bog down an already pointless sequel. Violent to the point of excess, with no purpose (read: it doesn't further the plot) and gore that borders on the obscene (one scene can best be describe as "alien rape").

Whereas Sil, the first Species creature (played by the pretty Natasha Henstridge) was sleek and efficient due to designs by H. R. Giger, the second beastie is a joke. Finally seen in full view (sorta) in the last half hour, it's a giant puppet owing more to every other monster ever made. Sil was an original; this Muppet from hell is a bastard child.

Bad CGI effects, lame plot and acting (Michael Madsen is on autopilot) and a creature that looks like (and is) a giant fucking puppet. What's worse, you know the filmmakers hated it: the entire climax is shot so dark it's hard to tell just what the hell's going on. Not that it matters. Sold as a star vehicle for Henstridge, she's barely in it (note to guys looking for the repeat of her nude scenes from the first film: it ain't happening). Nope, it's about the guy who's infected this time (Lazard) and his desire to make it with the clone of the first one (Henstridge). That's it. In between: sex and gore, none of it remotely worth watching.

Arguably one of the worst movies ever made.
