Cruel Game
[AllPosters.com] Buy posters from this movie
by Scott Weinberg

"Not often you see Mako in a movie with a Playboy centerfold..."
1 stars

A wealthy and almost obscenely smug playboy strings along a gaggle of cooing girlfriends, content in the knowledge that he sure does get a lot of ass. Guess where this story's headed...

His main squeeze feels the pain of true love - or maybe she's just angling for a green card. Eventually some of the ladies wise up, a feral collection of Japanese Mafia fellas spring up, and the result is a screeching right-turn into con-game territory, resulting in a movie as confusing and obtuse as it is drearily dull.

Sure a few familiar people (and their breasts) are on hand to plaster their names on the DVD cover ("Starring Playboy SuperNudie Victoria Silvstedt!"), and it's always a treat to see someone as old and rascally as Mako starring alongside someone best known for the shape of her ass - but make no mistake: this one's not even "good bad"; more like "aggravatingly and forcefully bad".

Still, Cruel Game is successful only insofar as it has a painfully accurate title. The only people who will make it to the end credits of this movie are online film critics desperately trying to find some entertainment value in low-rent cable fodder this outlandishly awful.

I found none. Let's move on.
