Love 101
[AllPosters.com] Buy posters from this movie
by Scott Weinberg

"As PB & J is a sandwich, Love 101 is a college sex comedy."
2 stars

Four college buddies sit around and yammer about how to score chicks and drink a lot of beer, stopping periodically to offer some hopefully sincere ‘moments of heart’. The nerdy guy likes the pretty girl. The confident guy sleeps with the pretty girl. The wacky guy screws the German girl. The nerdy guy feels betrayed and gets pissed. There. I just saved you 86 minutes.

Low-key college comedy Love 101 certainly isn’t the worst of its type to come down the road, but damn if it’s not among the most tiringly familiar.

The acting talent ranges from ‘hey not bad’ to ‘amateurish to the point of distraction’, the script is laden with ‘guy slang’ and raunch gags that would get any modern college student ostracized for his cornball leanings.

Liberal doses of female skin are offered in the hopes of maintaining viewer interest (and hey breasts are nice) and though it’s a fairly rote affair, Love 101 doesn’t have that offensively bad stink to it that similar projects often do.

This story's been covered a hundred times before; Love 101 offers very few viable reasons to sit through it yet again.

Points for trying, but this flick gets its inspirations from movies not all that hot to begin with, and then simpy rehashes them point by point.
