"Why does Hollywood force me to believe there are men that sweet?"
Adam Sandler is charming and funny and Drew Barrymore is sweet.Note to viewer: only see this if you're in the mood for charming and sweet.
It is a very cute, well, chick-flick. true love, songs, weddings (including a wedding dress tryout scene featuring the only good arquette, who played "george" fabulously)
I must say, that the vast majority of the 80s jokes were lost on me, because i wasn't in america during the eighties, but it was a fond tribute.
Sandler limited his humor ("I'm loud an obnoxious look at me and laugh") to a few select scenes where it was appropriate, and it really worked out for the best. Normally I can take him for about 15 minutes and then he just annoys me, but here he had Drew Barrymore to quiet him. And who better? She was wonderful as the object of his affections.
The conclusion is a happy and funny one, with a special guest appearance by an 80's icon.
This movie is well worth it, wonderful for curling up with a pint of cookies'n'cream ice cream and wondering what you ever did to make Hollywood force you to believe there really are men that sweet out there?Cuuuuuute. 4 sporks
