I love Steve Carell, but every time he does something Gervais-ish, like trying to finish someone's sentence, it just makes me miss the original. |

I agree. As much as the remake seems to have captured the spirit of the original, even in the sweet and suddenly emotional moment between Dawn and Tim (or whatever their names are in this version) I can't help but but think of the actors who originated the feel of the show.
That said, I'll definitely keep tuning in, but I have a feeling the show won't last. Having gotten so close to re-creating the akwardness and loosley ploted spirit of the original, it's just too wierd and unconventional to draw the kind of audience NBC is looking for. |

you're probably right - I think it's way too unconventional to pull the kinds of numbers NBC will be looking for. And no, it's not as good as the original and probably never will be. But I'll be happy if we get one good season out of it. _________________ I shouldn't get high to come up with ideas. I should come up with ideas, and THEN get high, to reward myself! |

Well, it wasn't on last night, and it's not showing up in any TV listings for at least the next two weeks. Did they axe this show already? Fuck's sake . . . this is why I despise network television _________________ I shouldn't get high to come up with ideas. I should come up with ideas, and THEN get high, to reward myself! |

It just came to the end of the episodes ordered. Last week's episode was billed as the last new one of the season.

Wow. Short season.
Well, our favorite black hole of suckitude, aka "Aint it cool news" reports it as being a "bubble" show, so I guess it's up in the air now. Hope it did well enough for a second season. I was rather starting to like it. _________________ I shouldn't get high to come up with ideas. I should come up with ideas, and THEN get high, to reward myself! |

I can't believe how fuckin good the 2nd season opener of the American "Office" was. I'm a huge fan of the British version, and when I heard about the remake, I was sure it would be crap. And while I was surprised that it was actually kinda good last year, THIS episode was actually on par with the stuff in the Gervais version. The tension, the laughs, the suprising emotion and sympathy, the poignancy - it was ALL THERE! If I were to rank all the "Office" episodes, both American and British, Tuesday's episode would probably break the top 5. I am shocked by how well they understand the spirit of the show and why it worked. |

Still like the original better, but yeah, this week's episode was damn solid. _________________ I shouldn't get high to come up with ideas. I should come up with ideas, and THEN get high, to reward myself! |

I think we don't talk about it because it's just the best show on TV, not going anywhere, and makes us all feel like we could never really be the best at our craft, because the writers of this show already are.
Misery promotes controversy, and this show ain't misery. _________________

Great episode in a season full of 'em, but there was no Toby. No way you can have a "best episode" possibility if Toby doesn't make an appearance. _________________ Scott Weinberg |

Jenna Fischer goes and falls down some stairs and breaks her back in four places, but should be okay enough to film the coming season, according to IMDB. Now she'll really look ill at ease around Michael!

Gotta admit it. I welled up on Pam's last reaction shot. Just perfect.
Where can we all send her flowers on a quick recovery?
