From CBC News:
Quote: | Actor Les (Leslie) Earnest Lye, best known for the 1979 hit children's program You Can't Do That on Television, died Tuesday in Ottawa. He was 84. |
Hopefully I'm not the only YCDTOTV fan here. |

Was that the guy who looked like an actual real-life Homer Simpson?
Yes, I did watch that show - it was a good lead-in to Dangermouse. _________________ I am L. Pete Morton. |

I always wondered why Nickelodeon doesn't rerun "You Can't Do That On Television." The whole network co-opted the green slime bit! While I do love my Spongebob and iCarly, I could do without True Jackson and the umpteenth showing of George Lopez on Nick at Nite (Adult Swim must really be kicking its ass, it's like Nickelodeon just gave up on the hours of 8pm-5am CST). _________________ Charles Tatum's Review Archive |

Its not too hard to kick ass when you have legions of teens through 40-year olds placated by even a smidgen of Anime, the lowest form of entertainment for Attention Defecit sufferers. I'd love a bit more emphasis on Venture Brothers, I've grown fond of Metalocalyse, but honestly, between AS and Sci Fi showing the same strobe lit big eyed poutroons striking hip thrust poses and spouting off badly dubbed nonsense, I'd rather just read a book than keep the tv on. _________________ I am L. Apparently there are some prickly rights issues (the same issues preventing a DVD release), and Nick is likely just steering clear of the whole thing. |
