Well, Bonnie and Clyde is pretty much the only 1967 film everyone would agree is a "landmark", and from there it was just a matter of finding out which of Penn's films starred Gene Hackman.
Also, the latest one: is that really Steve Guttenberg, or am I seeing things?
Edit: I think Jay is right, and that I am seeing things. |

Alex,
1. I can't say for sure you're seeing things; probably not, but not 100%
2. Tsk, tsk -- no using imdb.com or any database for identification purposes!
Jay,
Incorrect. And, ugh, why did you have to bring up Pacific Heights? That movie's a real piece of crap. Yuck. _________________ "Joe the Plumber -- you can quote me -- is a dumbass." -- Meghan McCain |

Why, Wikipedia's not a database; it's not even reliable! Semantics, old boy, it always hinges on them. |

C'mon, people! The film isn't that old -- late '80s. And the actor you should clearly recognize. Who wrote and directed it? The very same guy responsible for the best film of the '90s and the best of the '00s. _________________ "Joe the Plumber -- you can quote me -- is a dumbass." -- Meghan McCain |

Oooooookay....
Not really believable but pretty damn spellbinding and atmospheric as hell. Really creepy stuff.
OK, the next one...

So that was Guttenberg after all? But I had never heard of this particular film; nor am I likely to guess the new one. |

Came out in 1987 and got generally good reviews. And many were surprised at the solidity of Guttenberg's performance being that he was doing all those Police Academy movies at the time (even though he showed his acting chops in Diner five years prior). An early effort from Curtis Hanson, who went on to L.A. Confidential and Wonder Boys, the best films of their decade. _________________ "Joe the Plumber -- you can quote me -- is a dumbass." -- Meghan McCain |

That one is Salem's Lot. _________________ "We hate the French! We fight wars against the French! Did all those men die in vain on the fields of Agincourt? Was the man who burned Joan of Arc just wasting good matches?" |

I knew 'ol Matthew would pull that one off!
(Oh, tomorrow morning I'm catching a train from Grand Forks, North Dakota, where I just completed a work assignment, to Eureka, California for the rest of the year, which is where Salem's Lot was filmed.)

That looks a little bit Bill Paxton, so I'm gonna guess Frailty? _________________ "We hate the French! We fight wars against the French! Did all those men die in vain on the fields of Agincourt? Was the man who burned Joan of Arc just wasting good matches?" |

No, Bob knows that's James Caan.
The mask is a dead giveaway though. That's Thief. _________________ A hole is a hole.. as long as there's some heat up in it, I'll throw a fuckin' on it. |

Way to go, Booto-Obsessed Bob! You apparently can pull your head out of your crusty butt when the time comes! You've put your poopy brain cells to work finally, my man.

A little bit of a challenge. You'd probably know the film if you saw the lead actress' face. And why that wonderful actor didn't have a bigger career is simply beyond me.

That looks a bit like Sleeping With The Enemy, starring that hot broad Julia Roberts.
Bob isn't so sure though. But still.. this old man's got a stiff God Staff™ now thinking about her. _________________ A hole is a hole.. as long as there's some heat up in it, I'll throw a fuckin' on it. |

Don't know if you'll guess this one, Anal-Reaming Bob. After all, the film didn't involve any of your Oriental Ninja slaves.

Jack - Son, so you think you can pull a fast one on ole Bob? You is a silly son-o-bitch!
Let Bob see. That's Gene Hackman. I'd say Mississippi Burning.
You do realize that this ole man watches more than just movies with magic-eyed Orientals, right?
And that's magic-eyed, not ninja slaves. _________________ A hole is a hole.. as long as there's some heat up in it, I'll throw a fuckin' on it. |

Drat! You're on the ball again so soon. (By the way, your dealing with your balls being the same size as your willie must take some real courage. )
Try this one. The Tatum will definitely get this one b/c he's reviewed it, but the rest of y'all, well...

Bob's pretty sure that's The Island.
You know, Bob's also a fan of Michael Caine in Deathtrap. What he isn't a fan of.. is him in Jaws: The Revenge.
The movie wasn't even doable after a case and a half of Hooch™. _________________ A hole is a hole.. as long as there's some heat up in it, I'll throw a fuckin' on it. |

Damn, Bob, you're on a roll! Oh, and I'll still admit to having seen Jaws: The Revenge -- which made Jaws 3-D look positively A-plus by comparison -- at the theatre. Yeah, that doesn't make me look good, but, hey, at least I wouldn't put my pecker inside someone's ear just because it's a hole. (Just sayin'... )
Here's one from a guilty pleasure of mine that the Weinberg still can't believe I have an affinity for. And I saw this one on opening night, too. (Of course, I was just about the only one in the theatre... )

Jack - Son, Bob does not make sex with an ear. His Dookie Pounder™ is mammoth. Nice try, girl pants!
Wow. Really? The Experts? Bob kind of has a soft spot for Arye Gross, on account House II makes Bob giggle like a 12 year old bitch. _________________ A hole is a hole.. as long as there's some heat up in it, I'll throw a fuckin' on it. |

I've meant to watch House 2 for several years now but haven't been able to find it in its entirety on YouTube or on a cheap-priced used DVD. One day!
(And maybe one day you'll fathom something called non-beastly sexual intercourse. )

Hope you silly son-o-bitches had a good Thanksgiving. Bob knows he did.
Ooh, Christopher Walken.. in At Close Range.
You could put him in anything, and it'd be worth watching.
Walken as Hamlet? Bob's there. Walken as Santa Claus? Bob's all in. _________________ A hole is a hole.. as long as there's some heat up in it, I'll throw a fuckin' on it. |

I'm proud to say I saw At Close Range twice during opening weekend; I'm not, however, proud to say I was just about the only one in the theatre both times. The now-defunct studio did a really piss-poor job of marketing that extraordinary film. And, uh, All-American Murder, an atrocious thriller directed by the guy who played Potsie on Happy Days, was something Walken should've steered way clear of.
