Well, Fox News is definitely reporting Bush wins way before Kerry wins... ABC was dead on, but cautious. Yahoo! news was quickest to react, and CNN was the most behind in reporting votes.
Fox News has Bush winning Ohio as of right now -- by a close margin... the rest of the stations are not touching it though. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/laurjane |

Yeah, there's a big fuckin' surprise from the Fox News cocksuckers.
They are currently reporting Bush at 269 and that if Kerry wins the rest of the states then there may be a tie.
Conspiracy theorists take aim because these motherfuckers must be taken down a peg.

MSNBC is all over Bush winning Ohio as well... but all the votes haven't been counted yet... as Jessica Simpson would say: "Oh my gaw!"
Hold your horses! Was the 2000 mess in Florida in vain -- have we not learned anything?!? _________________ http://www.myspace.com/laurjane |

Honestly, I thought this outcome impossible. Who could actually look at Bush's performance over the last four years and say, "Wow, he did a pretty good job. I'd like to see what he'd do with another term"?
The sad part? If the democrats had stuck with Dean, this wouldn't even be close. We'd have a new president right now. |

Yet Fox News called Ohio WAYYYYY before anyone else.
Also one of the vote specialists in Ohio was just interviewed on NBC.
Currently Bush is ahead in Ohio by about 96,000 votes (with 91% tallied). He says Bush is well past the margin-of-error in any election for Kerry to comeback with the provisional and overseas ballots. The margin-of-error according to him - 150,000. There's some fuzzy fuckin' math. _________________ Erik Childress

I doubt that actually. It probably would have been more in Bush's favor. Kerry can't even win as a war hero. What do Americans have against these war dudes running against Dubya?
If the Democrats had some balls - they would concentrate on 2008, develop Barack Obama's presence and go for a Clinton/Obama ticket (in any order). Mark my word, no matter what you think of the politics it could be an absolute landslide. The first woman and black man in the white house. _________________ Erik Childress

Here's how it's breaking down in Ohio right now: Ten minutes ago there was 88% of the locations reporting and Bush was 125,000 ahead. Now, they've got 89% of the locations reporting and Bush's lead is down to 93,000.
Now, what makes this interesting and still far from decisive is that, according to election officials, there are nearly 200,000 provisional ballots out there in Ohio, which are most definitely likely to swing hard to Kerry. Absentee ballots are also still in the mix and likely to be for a few days, and many of those were lodged by Democrats who didn't trust the electronic voting machines.
It is way too close to call, even though Fox is pulling their old stunt of calling it early and trying to convince other media outlets to go along with them. |

Yes, Fox and one network are giving it to Bush, but nobody else is giving up an inch. In fact, I hear Kerry will make a speech any moment now, but it ain't no concession speech.
The Republicans have been challenging voters' eligibility in Ohio for WEEKS now, and those votes must be counted eventually. While their number is twice the size of the gap between the candidates, you have to think this thing is going to be closer than Fox wants us to think.
Additionally, If Kerry loses Ohio and wins the other states still to be decided (possible, it's neck and neck or advantage him in all of them) - it could come down to a 269-269 tie.
*That* will end up nasty, no doubt.
Chef (good to see you back here, by the way), I wish I could answer your question. In Ohio the incumbents did a tricky thing - they put a gay marriage referendum on the ballot, which managed to get a whole load of usually lazy right wingers off their asses to vote, and of course they'd be likely to vote for Bush while they were up off the couch.
But I think what's really made this thing swing the way it has has been lack of education. And by that I mean actual education AND factual information on the candidates, the current administration, and the pros/cons of both. |

...and how come there's suddenly an extra THREE AND A HALF MILLION of them?!?
At the moment, Bush is up 50%:48% in Nevada, the state where he's promised to finally fast-track a stalled national nuclear waste repository if re-elected. |

Let's say you don't know that much about the candidates, but you want to do your civic duty and vote. Well, how would one make such a decision? I would say by watching the fucking debates, for starters. If you can't even be bothered to spend three nights watching the candidates discuss the issues, you shouldn't be allowed to cast your ballot. We're talking about FOUR MORE YEARS of Bush here. Who knows what the hell he'll do when he doesn't have to worry about re-election anymore? Anyways, what I'm trying to say is this: even if someone lacked formal education and didn't know much about the candidates, wouldn't watching the debates provide the information necessary to make a decision in the voting booth? And if you can't even be bothered to watch the debates, why would you leave your house and go vote?
And I'm assuming that anyone who watched all three debates recognized Kerry as the only sane choice. |

Well, all I know is my dad is very sharp in his politics, he is a huge history buff, he knows his crap... he certainly watched the debates and he's not a big fan of Bush, but he has serious reasons for disliking Kerry -- it's actually beyond my head a bit... I'm pretty sure he voted for Bush, though he's probably more of a reluctant republican.
I think it's an ideology thing. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/laurjane |

Perhaps this explains it...
Meanwhile, over the weekend, “Stolen Honor” found an even wider broadcast outlet than Sinclair would have provided, when the conservative, Florida-based news Web site NewsMax.com spent $294,500 to buy infomercial time for the film on the Pax broadcast network, which reaches nearly 90 per cent of U.S. homes with televisions. The film aired 10 times. Pax spokeswoman Nancy Udell said the film wasn’t part of Pax programming, and added that the network sells political advertising to all buyers so long as the ad conforms to the rules, including being clearly labeled. She said the group asked about ad rates “several weeks ago,” but only placed the ad buy last week.
Political infommercials now. I mean... fuck off. |

I'm so proud. Kerry won Pennsylvania, due in large part to Philadelphia County. Check the numbers: 80% of all votes in Philly...went to Kerry!

Because so many in this country are ignorant to facts. After all, remember, 70% of Americans at one time thought Hussein was responsible for 9/11, and even after the Bush administration had to admit that he didn't, 40% still believe that. People rely on the mainstream media to inform themselves in this country, and that's fucking pathetic. I mean, anyone with their eyes wide open privy to Bush actions...
http://www.thenation.com/doc.mhtml?i=20041108&s=facts
...they'd realize that the only ones he cares about are those in the top 1% economic bracket. All the dubious religious talk and homophobic, sexist policy agendas are there to appeal to the non-rich voters. And, hey, they've only got themselves to blame. It's kind of like getting crappy Hollywood movies all the time: if people didn't pay to see 'em, Hollywood wouldn't make 'em. Ditto what Bush & Co. dish out. I just never thought I'd live in a country where people would be ever be so willing to ignore that their president lied about a full-fledged war.
On a note, I am glad to see Tom Daschle get shit-canned. He's a gutless coward who never stood up to Bush and kissed his ass when we needed him to fight. Here he was just yuesterday reminding voters that he supported Bush on Iraq. Fuck him and the broken horse he rode in on. Yeah, that means a Republican took his post. Oh well, at least the Republican who replaces him won't take any shit.
Something else: Even though I backed Edwards for president, Kerry still would have been better off having Gerphart as his VP, as I had been thinking but delined to admit for a while. Think it would have made quite a difference in the Midwest. _________________ "Joe the Plumber -- you can quote me -- is a dumbass." -- Meghan McCain

Which reminds me, take a gander at this if y'all please:
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/TX/P/00/index.html
Hopefully, this will dispel the notion that all Texans support Bush. Yeah, Bush won handily in this state, no doubt, but Kerry having garnered 2,786,016 votes and 38% isn't something to be ignored either. As for Denton County where I live, 59,163 of us voted for Kerry, and my vote is proudly among those nearly 60,000, thank you very much.
Oh,and take a gander at California:
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/CA/P/00/index.html
Not a landslide victory here, by any means. So that 'ol "California's full of nothing but liberals" is far from the truth. _________________ "Joe the Plumber -- you can quote me -- is a dumbass." -- Meghan McCain |

Erik,
Dean, who voted for the first Gulf War but not the second one (he looked at the "intelligence" and averred something was fishy about it) would have been able to hammer away at Bush on Iraq like nothing compared to Kerry, who, becauase of his having given Bush authorization, found himself with some limitations on the topic. This, I think, would have made quite a difference. He could have made it perfectly clear to the American people that the war in Iraq and the war on terrorism were not the same thing. And Dean wouldn't have held back like Kerry did on other topics. Kerry had enough ammunition to pulverize Bush, but he used only half of that. _________________ "Joe the Plumber -- you can quote me -- is a dumbass." -- Meghan McCain |

Yep.
Am I correct in saying about 12 to 13 million more people voted in this election than in 2000? Is this the greatest voter turnout -- considering that our population has grown? _________________ http://www.myspace.com/laurjane |

So, the Solaranite bomb has been re-elected and 58 million sheep who probably think Pearl Harbor is a great movie also believe we're a stronger nation with him in the White House.
