"Hmmm... A good attempt, or just got lucky on a few scenes?"
I'll admit that I have yet to see "The Haunting". Just didn't interest me - seemed like complete schlock. But then I start hearing about "House on Haunted Hill", and for some reason, I was slightly interested. And for the first 25 minutes or so, I was really digging this movie. A little hint of cheez, with some fairly interesting special effects (ghosts apearing in a video camera in a very haunting image).
But then, the movie takes a turn for the worse, trying to focus on dry characters that are rather annoying throughout the entire movie. I really didn't care who got stuck, and who made it out. By the end of the movie, I Was just hoping for some bad-ass demon to kick all of their asses.
Alas, it did not happen. Instead, we get a "black smoke ghost", of the likes used in the made for tv movie "The Haunted" with Sally Kirkland. Booo--- hiss----
Come on. I didn't spend 8 bucks for this. Oh yeah - wait a minute, I just did... Hmmm...A rental if nothing else is in, or if you just ABSOLUTELY need a haunted house movie.
