"The people ahead of me REALLY dug it. If you know what I mean."
Good if you like being freaked out.Visually, this movie is excellent. It's got all those weird camera angles and strange symbols and stuff you've come to expect from Terry Gilliam.
But.
Go expecting a coherent plot (or any plot, for that matter) and you'll be disappointed. It's a mess, with nothing really connecting each scene to the next.
Johhny Depp is spot on in his portrayal of Raoul Duke, but his narration throughout the film gets annoying very quickly. Part of it comes from him having the cigarette holder clenched between his teeth constantly. Benecio Del Toro is...big. I mean, this guy put on the pounds and apparently didn't bathe or something. He looks scuzzy and is fairly difficult to understand at times.
At any rate, if you do see it, see it for the visuals. From Depp and Del Toro seeing a receptionist turn into an iguana to their entire hotel room being flooded to knee depth, this movie is loaded with astounding images.Bad if you don't like incoherence.
