The beginning of the end of the era that was John Hughes. You evil, money-grabbing, ten year old poisoning bastard.John Hughes used to be an icon of teen angst in the 80's. Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science, She's Having A Baby... now he's become the human equivalent of Barney, having inflicted such monstrosities as Home Alone 3, Mousehunt and Flubber on our youth.
It also marked the decline of Joe Pesci as a serious actor, but that's another rant altogether.
But to be fair, this particular film is not bad fare. It just hurts to watch it knowing that an era of film ended with it's success. Macaulay Culkin is the star of the show. Where is he now? Who cares? It's a kids film that adults can laugh at. It doesn't hurt your head too much. Mostly harmless, yet inherently evil. Put John Hughes to the sword now.
