"I still think Belle should have popped a cap in Gaston herself."
4 stars

Right off the bat, I gotta say: I dislike Disney intensly. That hatred stems from what I perceive to be very sexist movies, overall. Jasmine? What? That gypsy bitch from Notre Dame? What? Even the little mermaid was reduced from a strong independant character to a lovesick child. But this movie redeems Disney somewhat in my eyes. And hey, they give Pixar money. Gotta love that.

So anyways, back on track: This movie is not bad.

It's quite enjoyable. Belle isn't a stupid weak fuck. She kinda kicks ass, actually. The Beast is oddly attractive (like Derek) until he turns human. Ugh. Gaston is a very good villan. Villans should always have smelly feet. And there are the requisite cute friends, annoying friends, mommy figure, hapless inventor. Pretty standard.

My only complaint is consistency. I am all for computer animation. super, duper, breathtaking computer animation rules.

It's why they made toy story. But you're not allowed to be like all normal, average (still good, don't get me wrong) animation and then cut in clearly computer generated scenes. It's just a waste, in my opinon.

However, overall, this is a very good movie, very well done. And not bad role models for children. 4 sporks.
